Privacy Policy
Last updated 29 July 2026
B4uWork ("we", "us") provides public-record trust checks on UK companies. This policy explains what data we handle and why.
The short version
Free company checks and one-off reports do not require an account. The optional Business service stores the minimum information needed to run a private workspace and weekly company monitoring. We do not sell personal data or use it for advertising.
What we process
- Your searches. The company name or number you enter is sent to our service so we can look it up in Companies House and The Gazette and return a result.
- Basic technical data. Like most web services, our hosting provider may process standard request information (such as IP address and device/browser type) to deliver the service and keep it secure.
- Business workspace data. If you subscribe to Business, we store your email address, subscription status, tracked company numbers, monitoring results and in-app alerts. Your password is stored only as a salted one-way hash rather than readable text.
- Business sign-in cookie. We use a secure, essential cookie to keep a Business workspace signed in. If "Keep me signed in" is selected, it lasts for up to 30 days. If it is not selected, the browser cookie ends with the browser session.
What we do not collect
- No account, name, email, or password is required for a free company check.
- We never store full payment-card details.
- We do not build advertising profiles and we do not sell personal data.
How company data is sourced
Trust scores and detailed reports use public records published by Companies House and The Gazette. Detailed reports may also show supplier-payment reports published by the Department for Business and Trade. A score is a signal based on those public records; it is not a credit rating, legal opinion, fraud finding, or guarantee of payment.
Checks can also consult other official registers published on GOV.UK: HMRC's deliberate tax defaulters list, the national minimum wage naming rounds, and employment tribunal decisions. These are name matches on records the government has already published — they can name businesses and, sometimes, individuals — and B4uWork shows each entry as published, linked back to the official source, without adding conclusions of its own. If you believe a displayed public record is wrong, contact the publishing body; if you believe B4uWork has matched a record to the wrong company, contact us using the address below and we will review it.
Business subscriptions
Business payments and recurring billing started on the website are handled by Stripe. Workspace and monitoring data is stored in a server-side database supplied by Upstash. These providers process information only as needed to provide their services. Business monitoring produces in-app alerts; B4uWork does not currently send monitoring alerts by email, text message or WhatsApp.
Payments for detailed reports
Detailed reports are an optional one-off purchase on the web. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your full card details. Stripe supplies the purchase email to B4uWork so we can send the receipt and private report link. Those emails are delivered by Resend, which processes the address only to send them. A purchase does not create a B4uWork account, and the report shows public-record data only.
Sharing
We share data only with the infrastructure and payment providers that run the service, and the official sources queried to produce results. We do not sell or rent data to anyone.
Retention
Free results may be cached briefly to keep the app fast. Business workspace data is kept while the service is active and for a limited period afterwards where needed for support, payment records, security and legal obligations. You can ask for workspace data to be deleted by contacting us.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have rights over personal data we hold. To ask for access, correction or deletion, contact us below. Public company information may remain available at its official source even after workspace data is deleted.
Children
B4uWork is a business tool intended for adults and is not directed at children.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above.
